BOOTJACK (DARPA PROJECT)
As part of the prestigious DARPA Cyber Fast Track program, Selective Intellect developed Bootjack, a groundbreaking hardware device engineered to extract and analyze a computer system’s BIOS via a USB connection. This innovative tool was designed primarily as a forensic instrument to detect supply chain attacks targeting BIOS at the manufacturing stage, as well as BIOS rootkits installed by malware, thereby bolstering cybersecurity measures.
In collaboration with BIT Systems (now a part of CACI Inc.), we secured a transition contract from DARPA, elevating Bootjack from a proof-of-concept to a sophisticated product tailored for the Department of Defense (DoD). Our enhancements included advanced feature upgrades, significant improvements in both hardware and software capabilities, the integration of tamper-proof mechanisms, and a refined boot-loader with enhanced tamper detection.
Bootjack's capabilities and innovative approach were showcased at the DARPA Demo Day at the Pentagon in May 2014, underlining its potential as a key tool in the defense sector's arsenal against cybersecurity threats and hardware vulnerabilities.
Firecracker (Darpa Project)
Under the DARPA Cyber Fast Track initiative, Selective Intellect leveraged its deep expertise in GPU computing, systems engineering, and cybersecurity to create Firecracker – a state-of-the-art framework for conducting comprehensive vulnerability assessments on systems equipped with high-end GPUs. This project underscored our commitment to developing innovative solutions in the realm of cybersecurity and defense technologies.
Firecracker was a testament to our prowess in harnessing cutting-edge technologies for enhancing national security measures. The software was not only showcased at the DARPA Demo Day at the Pentagon in 2014 but also earned the honor of being presented to the future leaders of our nation's military at the US Military Academy in West Point, NY.
